Bill Phelps photographs

I'm intrigued by Bill Phelps' photography. Especially one series of images of people going fast in machines. The images seem, at first glance, to date from c.1920. They don't, of course; and the work has an energy and mystery all its own. But he has caught the dynamic futurism of another era, and maybe some of its desperate quality as well. The images are like lost dreams of speed. For example:
Of course I was pleased when Phelps mentioned that Peter Behrens has been a lifelong inspiration to his work.
We hope to post some more Phelps images and perhaps notes from Bill himself  on the work.
